anyone manufacturing race inspired fairings/cowls? - infinite_ideation_imp - 02-20-2019

Hi All - Been awhile since I've checked in!

This never really occurred to me until I caught this video of JLG: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-f4-NpWKR24

I have a road comet II on the way and a few other accessories, however after seeing the side fairings/cowl setup for the CR750, was wondering if anyone is familiar with any shops manufacturing a similar replica race fairing for the '13+ models?

Including a photo of a replica CR750 below for reference

Airtech Streamlining makes one for the CB750.

That's the style I'm looking for, but that seems to be exclusively for the 750. Looking for a kit that may fit the CB1100 '13+ MY. Scoped their website and the earliest CB1100 they support is the CB1100 '83 MY.

I actually saw that kit, though the style is a bit different than the CR750s, e.g. squared headlamp vs the round lamp. Not to mention i'ts extremely expensive. I'm sure it's a great kit, but I was looking more for just the front fairing/cowl combo. Pekingduck linked a great kit, but that kit is for the 750.

I may try reaching out to airtech to see whether or not they can mod the fairing to fit the new CB1100 chassis

race inspired is one thing. give me a belly pan that will hold 5 qts of fluid so I can actually race it.

Thumbs Up

I don't disagree, but the modern CB doesn't hold much weight against modern track bikes. Would be great for a heritage race class though

The Airtech fairing is a fairly large one - early CB750s were large bikes, and the engines is about the same width at 21"-22" as the CB1100. I've seen a Kaw Z-1 900 and a Benelli 6 with this fairing.

Airtech makes race-replica parts, and is pretty much where everyone goes. In the era before fairings became standard, everyone adapted fairings from other models. These are about as inexpensive as you'll find at about $280. Also check these:

I don't hold much weight against modern racers either, but I enjoy the he** out of it!

Definitely going to contact them about adapting them for the CB1100. Wasn't even aware they were a thing until you brought them up, but I've also never tried sourcing vintage replica fairings before now eitherThumbs Up
