Has anyone had experience with these? Are they a gimmick or is there real performance gain to be had by smoothing the inbound airflow?

Oh that is interesting. Thanks for posting up. I'd like to hear how it changes intake noise.
It just hit me, that would make checking for mice nests in my air filter a lot easier! LOL

I've installed that exact one. It just replaces the intake cover over the air filter. You just buy one, not four. For me, the intake sound is pretty minimal. I'm sure PowerDubs will chime in, but you won't notice any power gains (maybe 2-3 hp?) because you're still bottlenecked by the throttle body velocity stacks.

Andy is correct.
This is a copy of the TSR airbox plate. This is NOT the velocity stacks for the individual cylinders.
It does make a very small amount of power at very high RPM- but also leans out the mixture more than I would like- so I would advise only using it if you add fuel in some manner.
You won't feel the bit of power, and you won't win any race because of it. There are better things to do IMO.

Good info, but what kind of difference have you noticed in sound? I'd like to hear some more intake noise.

Snake oil, these silly parts come out for a lot of bikes. I would like to see their claim of increased power, where they make it and how much. Whatever it is (if it exists at all) you will never notice it. The existing air intake is not restrictive. The airbox of modern bikes are resonant chambers and the intake funnel is part and parcel of the manufacturers design.

Scotty - For me, I can't hear much because of my exhaust, but it's similar to what an aftermarket intake sounds like on a car. It's a faint, air-y, growl coming from the side panel. Some people like it, some don't. I don't mind it. Is it worth 80 bucks? Not really. You also start getting a little lean like PD mentioned, so keep that in mind.
