Tires ~ Converting tube to tubeless type. - 17-CB-002 - 03-04-2019 Hello everyone, Mine is a 2017 CB1100 with spoke wheels. I will soon need new tires and I am debating on converting my spoke tube type wheels into a tubeless style, thus using tubeless tires. There is a kit by "Outex" that can do the job. As per the U-tube video attached, it looked very easy and simple. I am inquiring about longevity, safety and whether it is possible. Had any member tried it? Thanks Alain Here's the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikKeVNBAmQQ RE: Tires ~ Converting tube to tubeless type. - GoldOxide_imp - 03-04-2019 Ingenious product. Thanks for sharing! RE: Tires ~ Converting tube to tubeless type. - Cormanus - 03-04-2019 Alain, Aussieflyer is the resident Outex expert– http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=1974&pid=130363#pid130363 I'm certain he's reported being very pleased with the result. RE: Tires ~ Converting tube to tubeless type. - 17-CB-002 - 03-06-2019 Now the next question is: What "Tubeless" size tires to select? Any suggestion? Avon now have another line of tires for spoked wheels. Triumph uses Avon tires on some of their Bonneville models. Canadas Fort Nine also sell Avon tires that fit the EX. RE: Tires ~ Converting tube to tubeless type. - Cormanus - 03-06-2019 Aussieflyer, who has done the Outex conversion swears by his Metzlers. Pirelli Angel GTs with an oversize rear are well regarded. Lots of people have used the Michelin PR3 with both front and rear oversize. Pirelli Sport Demon and Bridgestone BT45s fit but are cross ply tyres. RE: Tires ~ Converting tube to tubeless type. - Rossi_imp - 03-07-2019 eBay shows several different Outex kits. Does anyone know which one would be best for my cb? I thought the tires seating makes the difference for "spoke" wheels or other types? Or is the rim bead curvature is mandatory for "Tube" or "Tubeless" type? |
