HD Street Glide Review - CIP57_imp - 04-10-2015 Down in NC for the week, finally some warm weather, temps in the 80's yesterday, perfect day for a rental. [url=http://s1034.photobucket.com/user/cipolla57/media/r2_zpsetofsaeo.jpg.html] ![]() Had a chance to put 180 miles on the SG, took about 10 miles to get use to the bike. There is something special about leaving a traffic light with a HD that you don't get with metrics. The bike has a six speed and has a sweet spot at 3000-3200 rpm's which is 65-70 in 5th gear. Getting to that sweet spot in 6th puts you at about 85 anything lower gives you a rumble and vibration in your feet not in the bars. Frame is much stiffer with much less wallow than I remember. Taking the bike around a clover leaf ( 40 & 140 ) bypass the bike handles well, a lot to do with a great set of tires. I'm not a fan of forward controls and felt a bit trapped all day with the seating position. The bike was loaded with a GPS Criuse etc. and the radio was clear with a set of earplugs at 60MPH. Overall a very enjoyable day and we'll worth the 100 bucks. [url=http://s1034.photobucket.com/user/cipolla57/media/r1_zpsigereq7c.jpg.html]
RE: HD Street Glide Review - ride4now_imp - 04-11-2015 Thanks for the report... that's a nice bike. RE: HD Street Glide Review - redbirds_imp - 04-11-2015 Renting a bike for the day is a good experience. Glad you enjoyed the Harley. RE: HD Street Glide Review - the Ferret - 04-11-2015 So come clean... What is the zero to 100 mph time? Lol J/k what a great way to spend an 80 degree day. RE: HD Street Glide Review - JustPassinThru_imp - 04-12-2015 I've been tempted to do that...you know, the road not taken; the choices I passed on. As it happens, the local Harley-Davidson Motor-Clothes Botique (has a few cycles in there for sale, too) is a half-mile away. They have a big sign (for the benefit of the suite-hotel guests across the street, no doubt) of their rental programs. At roughtly $100, cheap entertainment for the day. RE: HD Street Glide Review - Novice_imp - 04-13-2015 I rented an Electra Glide years ago from a dealership in St. Petersburg. It was a lot of fun and worth the $ for the experience. I was surprised at how much pep it seemed to have. However, to this day I find it funny when the CB is referred to as a big bike. Compared to the Harley line up, the CB is not a big bike. Compared to the Harley line up, the CB is not a big bike. The dressed Harley's weight in about 900lbs, similar to a ST1300. The ST carries it weight much higher and you need to be real careful at stop lights, uneven ground or gravel, not the case with the HD which has a lower center of gravity. This could be my 30" inseam, may be different to someone taller. The CB with the low seat height is very well balanced. |
