New addition to the family - Chapomis_imp - 07-09-2015 A few weeks ago my 31 year old son announced that he wanted to learn to ride. He has his permit already, signed up for the Training Wheels class and immediately started searching for a bike to buy. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised when he started sending me pictures of vintage standards. He got very serious about a few Bonnie's that he saw locally, but they were selling quicker that he could get to them. So, we went to the mainland Tuesday and found this for him. Guy bought it for his wife and she rode it once, then sat in garage for 3 years. RE: New addition to the family - the Ferret - 07-09-2015 You didn't recommend a Multi Strada for him? It's a start! Seriously let him develop some slow speed skills and progress at his own rate. Good job Chapomis RE: New addition to the family - Chapomis_imp - 07-09-2015 Yes, I'm glad he went this way. Thanks Ferret RE: New addition to the family - redbirds_imp - 07-09-2015 Great starter bike for your son. So many new riders try to start out on large powerful bikes when a small bike will teach you the fundamentals of control. Good choice. RE: New addition to the family - DAC - 07-09-2015 Good starter bike. Basically new bike at used price. Good luck! RE: New addition to the family - Rocky_imp - 07-09-2015 What a great find! Smart move to start small Like redbirds said, start small and learn how to ride first before moving up to something bigger. A bike that feels too heavy and powerful to a new rider will scare them half to death - or worse. Guys need to get over the macho thing of a huge first bike to impress your buddies. It may be small, but it's going to be a lot of fun - and fun is what it's all about. Cool trailer too! Too nice! RE: New addition to the family - furious_blue_imp - 07-09-2015 Great stuff ! Motorcycle riding can only be new once in a lifetime, I'm envious ! RE: New addition to the family - Dharma_Jones93_imp - 07-09-2015 Small displacement is really in vogue now anyway. He may just find it suits him! Great lookin' ride! RE: New addition to the family - Chapomis_imp - 07-09-2015 Can't beat it at $2,900 for new. He really has his heart set on a Bonnie and his GF wants the Rebel, sounds like a plan to me. Not knowing that much about Bonnie's myself and hearing a lot of mention here, are there years that are better than others ? |
