Strange bike - Volchkoff_imp - 09-12-2015

Does anyone know what bike is it?

RE: Strange bike - Django - 09-12-2015

Hm, looks like a Megola with a sternmotor in the front wheel. But I never saw one with that fairing. So may be something else...

Is it German or American?
Engine installed in front wheel.

Killinger and Freund 1938. Do I win: Smile

Actually, Django should win. I Googled Megola and a picture of this bike with specs showed up. Also another pic of that soldier sitting on it.

RE: Strange bike - Volchkoff_imp - 09-12-2015

Yes! Just do you know is it only prototype?

RE: Strange bike - Django - 09-12-2015

From the Megola, the predecessor, there were build about 2,000 from 1921 to 1925 by BMW.

The Killinger & Freund was a further development of the Megola. There is only one prototype, which was captured by the US army after WW2 and went to the USA. It still exists in the mid west owned by an unknown motorcycle lover.

I found this information at the German wikipedia:

It is so strange situation. It is unicum bike. Someone owns it and does not show it! At least it is a great exemplar for any kind of exibition or museum.
