'bobber' - 'cafe' - muffler delete - ape hangers....?? - PowerDubs_imp - 08-29-2020 https://www.ebay.com/itm/2014-Honda-CB/174412433032?hash=item289bca8688%3Ag%3ANY8AAOSw7d5fSRow&LH_ItemCondition=4 Ok- who did this? Wow. I guess all I will say- there is no such thing as 'back pressure'. Anybody that says so doesn't know what they are talking about. Decades ago somebody misunderstood a too large exhaust running poorly and somehow came up with the 'back pressure' myth. An engine is an air pump= the most efficient it can be to flow air the better. The inverse- any resistance- whether in or out is BAD. So 'back pressure' is bad. The reason a big pipe or short open pipe looses power has nothing to do with 'back pressure' it has to due with pulse timing and scavenging. Both which affect and contribute to velocity. RE: 'bobber' - 'cafe' - muffler delete - ape hangers....?? - Lord Popgun - 08-29-2020 Oooooh, I get to say Helmholtz Resonator again! 'bobber' - 'cafe' - muffler delete - ape hangers....?? - PowerDubs_imp - 08-29-2020 Ha. Yea. Been around for decades on the intake side of engines, both for intake manifold plenum tuning for engine breathing and occasionally tacked on chambers to the airbox path for intake audible sound note. Less common on the exhaust side but some times you see chambers seeming randomly like a growth on an exhaust. Or the ever classic muscle car H or X pipe. For old school bikes like ours- usually just header design. So we have 4-1 or 4-2 Does anybody make a 4-2-1 Tri-Y for our bikes? Try explaining that to someone who isn’t into bikes or cars. Umm yea.. so you have 4 cylinders, which technically have 8 exhaust valve port paths that combine at exit to 4 exhaust ports, combine 2 of those into -1 with the other 2 combined into-1, combine those two 1’s which makes another 2, then bring them to 1 ... what? ![]() I wonder now- has there ever been a 16 valve engine, with 16 individual intake and exhaust ports.. no Y in the head. Would be prohibitively expensive and complex... as well as space concerns- but wonder how it would run. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk RE: 'bobber' - 'cafe' - muffler delete - ape hangers....?? - misterprofessionality - 08-30-2020 exhaust mechanics aside (which i can't comment on), i need eye bleach after seeing that. can we talk about rider ergos?? apes with rearsets?? really? is the rider some kind of insectoid human with backwards knees? if you zoom in on the reflection in the engine you can see the owners prominently displayed oversized jorts. that gives you an idea of who you're dealing with. RE: 'bobber' - 'cafe' - muffler delete - ape hangers....?? - PowerDubs_imp - 08-30-2020 Somebody just following trends. All of them. At once. Universal Japanese Motorcycle indeed! Anyone know what the headlight bracket is from? RE: 'bobber' - 'cafe' - muffler delete - ape hangers....?? - Cormanus - 08-30-2020 The screen is a Dart, I think. I wonder if he just blackened the Dart bracket? RE: 'bobber' - 'cafe' - muffler delete - ape hangers....?? - cbolling_imp - 08-31-2020 I am embarrassed to admit that this bike is from my state. Although it is at the complete for end of the state. It is still in my state. RE: 'bobber' - 'cafe' - muffler delete - ape hangers....?? - pekingduck - 08-31-2020 Hey cbolling, I'm really tempted. If I get it, will you pick it up for me since you're nearby? I want to ride it back to California so I need to be comfortable on the open road. I've got some bar risers ordered for it, and some floorboards, as I plan to stand most of the way. Those Dr Scholl's gel inserts really do the job, especially if you stack 2 or 3 in there! Will also need to drill some holes in my helmet so the exhaust sound will come through loud and clear. I tried that on my old helmet, but got the holes in the wrong place, so maybe this time I'll leave the helmet on while I'm drilling them.
