PULLING THE TRIGGER 1984 VF500F - 0011bc_imp - 07-04-2016

Cam Recall was done. I'm getting a good deal. It has Kerker K pipes. It's a little rough, but nothing a little TLC can't take care of.

It's got 28k on it, but I'm not too worried. I'm not buying this as a museum piece. I'm getting into a project.

Picking it up later today. I'll post pics then.

The recall for the VF500F was for the crankshaft. The VF750F Interceptor had the cam recall, which IIRC was only for 1983 models. The crankshafts on the 1984 500 Interceptors broke sometimes. Honda had to replace a bunch of them. Sorry to be the bearer of this news but it's the truth. I was a Honda salesperson during those years and our service department had to handle a number of these. This is over 30 years ago so not much on it as far as a web search, but it's legitimate.

That's for the best, several had cranks that broke when underway, you can imagine the problem for the rider. It's not something you need to be worrying about.

They were great bikes, though, maybe there's another out there with your name on it, a nice 1985/86 model.

Crankshaft? Interesting -- the widespread publicity was all about the camshafts. I never knew that.
