Cycle World: G310R Review - Ulvetanna_imp - 12-09-2016

His comments were pretty much what I expected after watching the bikes in action, sitting on one, and looking at the build quality. I'll be content to wait for this one to come out, it looks to be a very fun motorcycle.

The BMW's MSRP $4750 price, w/ ABS, is a really good deal.
Back in 2013, I bought a new '14 CBR250R for $4k, and paid an extra $500 for ABS.
Granted, it didn't have the fancy upside down forks, but it was a darn good entry level bike for my teenager.
If I were to do it again, today, imo, I'd go for the twin cyl. Kaw 300, just for the smoother, less vibey, nature of the twin for
interstate travel. In Tx, there's alot of hwys to cover.

This looked like a nice bike until I saw the wheels.
BMW have changed their wheels the last couple of years, I think they
maybe changed Mfg. .
Tires I have changed on some 2015-2016 BMWs would barley come off. If you look the wheel is almost flat in the middle.
It is a real problem for me so have refused to change any new BMW
wheels.

I'm not attracted to the racer-boy graphics or origami styling, but it sounds like a fun bike. I had a CBR250R for a while and it was incredibly capable, fun, and fuel efficient (90 mpg). The BMW is more powerful and I imagine more capable for freeway riding.

Straddled the BMW at the NY MC show, felt nimble, light, looked good. But the bike I pick to click after seeing, crawling around it and sitting on it, is the Kawasaki Versys 300. Blows the BMW away, IMHO,in presence and look (road tests TBA). Just a sweet bike, nicely thought out and finished and a big- boy bike look. I'd strongly consider one as my round-town and fire road machine. I apologize for any distractions in the attached photo.

The BMW will also come in a GS version; either the Kawi or BMW ADV in the 300-size will likely be about the most versatile bike on the planet. Wait'll these guys on the R1200GS get their butts handed to them by some kid on a Versys 300...

wonder if they will come with big enough alternators to run heated grips and jacket liners. May be the perfect size winter bikes for back here.
