Suzuki GT750 - Django - 06-23-2018
Yesterday when I was sitting in the beer garden, this beauty rolled in with its typical engine sound. Enjoyed smelling some 2 stroke oil for a long time.

I had 2 of those, a 73 and a 76 if memory serves me. One red, one blue. I put white Vetter fairings on them and luggage racks with matching Bates top boxes. They were great bikes, and the quickest starting bike I ever had. get you thumb near the start button and they fired up. Other than chains never had an issue with one.
One drawback with the Vetter fairings was they created a vacuum behind them, which would bring the exhaust smell back on the rider/ passenger, and you always smelled like 2 stroke oil lol

Though I never owned one always liked the "Water Buffalo". People who had them admired their reliability and smooth motor. Suzuki built some great two strokes.

The water buffalo ! Or was the GS 750 called the water buffalo? What an absolute beauty. Right smack in the middle of the Japanese superbike era. Good stuff

GS was Suzukis first 4 stroke ( air cooled no water)

A few days ago such a GT parked here in my neigbourhood in the same color. I always liked the water buffalo. I took a deep look and went back into my youth, when an older friend of mine picked up his new Suzuki in Denmark and we both rode back on it to the north of Germany. Very impressive and a staying memory, that also formed my love for motorbikes. In retrospective I found the power of that torquey engine overwhelming. In a certain sense such an icon as the CB750. It's out of a time when Suzuki was willing and able to build beautiful motorbikes like the GT family. If I nowadays look into the showroom of the local Suzuki dealer, same with Kawaski, what do I see? You can imagine it. I turn my face in disbelieve...
