Honda History Buffs: see if you can identify this. - misterprofessionality - 04-29-2019

Well, not really "identify." I know it's a CB900F. What i'm curious about is where/when were they ever released with these rad fairings on the front? I keep seeing pictures of the black/orange model specifically with this half fairing and i'm wondering if they were just a popular aftermarket mod or if the bike came from the factory this way at some point.[Image: b174d166169938fa83ca1e775a550ab9.jpg]

I would die to have that in my garage.

Those are aftermarket Öhlins as well from what I see.

The following is from a very quick search:

900f was manufactured from 1978-1983. It was not sold in the US until 1981.

The fairing appears to be a Hondaline factory fairing (or a replica of it) which was an aftermarket item.

Thanks MTC, I wanted to confirm that it was something made by Honda.

I am now considering replicating that half front fairing using these parts from Doremi:[Image: ccca615ddc2639891918de9a777caf36.jpg]

I already have a tail section that copies the '82 style and signals installed, if i combine it with the Doremi fairing and get the paint job done it will be stunning. This is my new goal.

I like those older fairings, although I prefer the round headlight opening. If I ever get weary of the wind, I might look at something like that.

Honestly, my Marlin screen does fine with wind. I've just been searching for a way to capture that quintessential early '80s pre-GSXR superbike aesthetic and this really puts it over the top.

Hondaline Sport fairing. I've actually ridden the CB900F with that fairing. Heavy. Sold a matching fairing for the 82 Sabre - very cool bike.

Thanks Rboe, now I have a name for it. This is key. I think there's a big difference between the materials used to make the Hondaline Fairing and the modern Doremi reproduction. my hypothesis is it will be about the same weight as the stock headlight bucket + headlight bracket+ headlight and signal stay + OEM mirrors + my marlin screen. time will tell.

For those that are into older Honda endurance racer stuff.
