Stylish pit bike - Gone in 60 - 03-13-2020 I just returned from two weeks on the road staffing my event company’s season opening drag races in Florida. I always like to observe trends in pit bikes. Some fancy 70s era 50 cc scooters like Yamahoppers, Groms and Z125s are becoming very popular. I’ve only seen a few new Monkeys so far. This time, I spotted something very unique in the pit bike corral - an ‘86 CB700 red/white/blue, in perfect condition. I hovered near it to see who it belonged to, but was called away to do some actual work before the owner returned. I hope this racer follows to our later events. I’d like to see if this is one of a larger collection of vintage Hondas. Some of our racers are on a shoestring budget, but some are quite the opposite, with unique collections. I had the 1984 blue 750 cc version and thought it strong lookin' at the time: RE: Stylish pit bike - peterbaron - 03-13-2020 The blue one looks just awesome...a little 750cc beast from the past! RE: Stylish pit bike - Desert viper_imp - 03-13-2020 Bet you wish you still had that bike GO! If there was just one (1) bike we were allowed to recall and keep for the rest of our life, for me that would be my most likely candidate. The CB1100 is a [definite] contender, and both I would still have the seat time discomfort ... unfortunately. RE: Stylish pit bike - Gone in 60 - 03-14-2020 Yup, Gold, that’s the bike. I have to think that if someone has one in great shape at their disposal that they can use to strap into a race hauler and use it to tool around a race track, what else must they have? |
