I’ve ridden a F650GS (which became the G650GS) and F650CS many times, including in the Alps. Fun, capable, and very reliable bikes, but ugly IMO.

There is a young Dutch woman riding one on a world tour solo. She has already been from India, where she started, through much of central Asia and then back to Holland. Because her original bike could not be licensed in Europe she bought a Euro spec RE and shipped it to Argentina. Her plan was to ride from the tip of South America to Alaska but the pandemic cut her short in Peru. She has put these two RE's through some very tough off roading with outstanding reliability and removed any hesitation I might have to purchase one.
