Which one is, your best guess, the most powerful light bike on the market these days. I am looking for anything under 450 pounds wet, and with a high weight/power ratio. Our CB1100, by some considered not powerful enough, comes in at about 6 pounds/HP, which is not bad at all. Funny thing is that many lighter bikes I see on the market come with 450 pounds and a ratio of 8.

I personally feel the CB was very underpowered.

Not to say it doesn't have enough, but I think they were extremely conservative. The CB used to be a powerhouse in its day, I dont know why they did not make it competitive with some of the other retro bikes today.

KTM 790.? @ 95/65/417 dry

My favorite combo is 100 hp and 75 lbs torque in a 500 pound package with shaft drive but it's a rare combo to find

I find the CB 1100 is close enough for me at 84/63/550 and I have been getting used to a bike with even less at 58 /51/500
Both with chains.

I'm looking forward to test riding the new NT 1100 with 100/77/550? ( not sure on weight) I only wish it had shaft drive.

The new Moto Guzzi V100 is promising: 120+ hp with a weight that is most likely less than 500 lbs. And it has a shaft drive!

It's a nice looking bike too. Doubt it will be less than 500 pounds wet.

Love looking at Guzzis. Dont like riding them though. Same with BMWs.

To all of them - amen.

If you really want a bike with high power to weight ratio, you need to look at sports bikes and modern hyper naked segment, these are all weigh around 400lbs, and punch out around 200hp. Our CB1100 is not even close to compete there. You should start your search with the king of power to weight - Kawasaki H2R, it makes 320hp out of just about 450lbs. Hope that fits your needs

Lots of neat bikes out there doing the retro look.
Two of my favorite old school but modern bikes are the Yamaha XSR700 and 900.
The 700 has a sweet engine and loves to wheelie, though perhaps a little low on power.
The 900 on the other hand is a beast and a whole lotta fun. That one tips in at less than 450 wet and prolly a good 115 hp going for it.

The new Tiger Sport 660 is only a tad over 450 wet and 80 hp. Better yet, new Triumph Speed Triple, 177 hp. 438 lbs wet.

I would have to give my Z900RS the vote. With about 100Hp stock and 474lbs, it is not underpowered. My bike lost about 20 pounds with the removal of the ugly, huge catalytic converter with an Akrapovic Headers/Muffler combo and picked up some Hp to boot. And if you take a look at the new Z900RS SE, this bike is going to make Kawasaki even more money. They improved what weak points the bike has with the addition of an Ohlin's rear shock and Brembo brakes. Add the gold rims and front forks, and they even made it prettier than it already is. Too bad Honda could not have done something to keep our 1100's on the market.
