BMW service campaign for over 400,000 bikes - Tev62 - 07-26-2022 I know there are a good few BMW owners on here.... BMW has announced a service campaign for over 400,000 of its R1200 GS and R1250 GS models to correct an issue relating to the cardan shaft. https://www.visordown.com/news/industry/bmw-announces-service-campaign-440000-r-1200-gs-and-r-1250-gs-bikes RE: BMW service campaign for over 400,000 bikes - tommymck - 07-26-2022 (07-26-2022, 06:44 AM)Tev62_imp Wrote: I know there are a good few BMW owners on here.... Looks like my 1250GS would be affected. Sounds like it's a simple thing that they'll do at the next scheduled maintenance. That pre-supposes of course that you go to the dealer to do maintenance, but with the 1250 in my case, that assumption holds. BMW is terrible of late in terms of providing shop manuals etc. to allow for people to do their own work. RE: BMW service campaign for over 400,000 bikes - GoldOxide_imp - 07-26-2022 Yeah, saw that today. Save the shaft! RE: BMW service campaign for over 400,000 bikes - LongRanger_imp - 07-26-2022 No reason not to have the dealer perform the repair if it’s a recall. At least BMW will stand behind it. RE: BMW service campaign for over 400,000 bikes - GoldOxide_imp - 10-20-2022 ... what's going on there? Moving violation ticket being issued to a cager? Nice shaft drive. RE: BMW service campaign for over 400,000 bikes - peterbaron - 10-20-2022 I think the cop was going to get his recall done at a local Gaspe, Que BMW dealer, but on his way there he stopped a violator, no..? No doubt about the shaft!
RE: BMW service campaign for over 400,000 bikes - redbirds_imp - 10-20-2022 My 2006 Moto Guzzi had a vent valve for the CARC. BMW has known for years about this problem but were loathe to do anything about it. RE: BMW service campaign for over 400,000 bikes - Tev62 - 10-20-2022 My buddy just took his 2018 R1200GS for a fix to his "SOS" button today. He purchased it 5 months ago as the 2nd owner through the local BMW dealer. The previous owner had only put 1800km on it in 3 years (what a waste). Not only did they fix the SOS button they replaced his entire shaft drive under warranty even though he was having no problems at all. They just said BMW paid for it with no explanation as to the problem???
