2023 Yamaha XSR900 - Gone in 60 - 11-18-2022

I went to the L.A. Auto Show tonight. Other than a few notable exceptions, it was a yawner and lightly attended for opening day.

But, in the “car wax and die cast” hall, Yamaha had a display with several bikes. One was the new XSR900. I wasn’t aware that it had been updated, and in blue with gold wheels I must say it was quite attractive.

I guess the update is moot when there are none in the local showrooms to go look at. The headlight sort of sticks out like an afterthought, but not unattractive. I failed to take a photo but here tis.

The golden age of automobile and motorcycle shows are waning?

Thank goodness for museums.

Can you imagine in the not so distant future of possible auto shows with just electric offerings? ( ... with a CB1100 in the classic section, next to the '57 Belair Convertible ... ) <-- 1957, not 2057.

When the XSR900 first came out, I was very impressed and really liked it, especially in yellow & black. I test-rode it at a dealer during one of those demo-days and it was a fun bike. I didn't like it that the rider is sitting so much forward - above the handle bars.
Then suddenly I noticed and couldn't see beyond that lumpy radiator, and thereafter I also found the swingarm & frame too massive. And with the latest model I just can't accept that very odd seat.
(but that engine is really very nice indeed!)
