Moto Talbott Collection - Gone in 60 - 06-15-2023

A few weeks ago, I drove up to visit some friends in the Western Sierras northeast of Sacramento.

I had heard about a motorcycle museum called Moto Talbott, not too far off of the 101 between Salinas and Monterey, right near Laguna Seca Raceway, but had never had an opportunity to check it out. I was driving home on 101 (Highway 1 along the coast is still closed), so I carved out a little time to check it out.

It's located in Carmel Valley Village, which is along a neat twisty road that made me wish I was driving something other than a rental car. It's a very cool little museum, packed with some unique and unusual bikes.

If you find yourself between LA and San Francisco, or are in the Monterey area for some reason, it's worth a stop and a few hours to poke around. My next wish is to see the Solvang motorcycle museum, but I can never catch it on one of the few days it's open.

wow some really cool old stuff.

My wife and I were in Solvang a couple of years ago. Ate lunch there. Didn't know there was a motorcycle museum in town.

Very nice! What is that blue bike in the 3rd photo?

That blue bike is some type of Harley, can't remember the details.

Gone, I believe the Harley was an Italian bike that Harley had a contract to put Harley badges on to compete with the smaller Japanese bikes. May have been a "Topper." Not sure.
I was at Vandenberg AFB from '80-'84 and loved riding all over that area. Don't remember a motorcycle museum in Solvang, but it may have come later. Can't believe how long ago that is now.
Loved riding out to Cold Spring Tavern for lunch or taking dates there. Cool place and a great ride. Good memories.

I stop in Solvang whenever I’m headed North, and have some pea soup at Anderson’s, then take my picture outside the Hitchin’ Post restaurant that was used in the movie Sideways.

The motorcycle museum is only open on weekends, and I’m usually passing through on a weekday.

Yep the Harley is either a 250 or 350 Sprint made by Aermachhi of Italy and badged by Harley from the mid- late 60's.

My first street bike was a 50cc Aermachhi badged Harley in 1965.

Looks like it is a copy/clone of the Moto Guzzi Falcone.
