Does bike come with oil in it? - AZrider_imp - 06-18-2013

Does anyone know exactly what the dealers do for setup? Does it come with oil for example. I ask that because the owners manual says 10W30. My dealer said, your bike has 10W40 in it as I was buying some oil. No said the dealer, your bike has 10W40 in it. But, I kept saying the owners manual...... The dealer said, they didn't reprint the manuals; it's suppose to say 10W40. I started to open my mouth again and he said, your bike has 10W40 in it. What's the verdict? Does he know or not? Did he put the oil in or not?

Same thing for me, when they were giving me the store intro after I bought the bike, they took me to service and I said during my 600 mile service I want 10/30 Full Synthetic, he said 10/40, I opened the user manual to prove it, and they said to make sure I ask for 10/30 or they would be default put in 10/40.....

The bikes do not come with oil or any fluids, the dealer puts it all in for prep. I had to wait for them to do it while I was doing the paperwork.

I believe it does come with fluids in it. Each bike is started and run through the gears in Japan. Cant imagine them running it dry, or taking the time to drain the oil. I will check with my dealer for verification. They also come with fork oil, and clutch and brake fluids. Im not sure if the battery is a gel battery, but Zi would imagine it is and not a lead acid batt. If it were lead acid, THAT might not have fluid in it, and may have to be filled by the dealer.

My service manager knew it used 10X30. The parts guy tried to sell me the 10X40. And yes I know it can be used.

I went to the parts counter at my local dealer and said I need oil for a CB1100. He gave me 10w-30, but he also gave me the wrong crush washer for the drain plug

the bike does come with oil and all fluids from the factory. I watched my bike being set-up.

Wow, that's quite an range of answers. We are all giving the answers we were given. I pressed pretty hard for whether the bike came with 10w30 or 10w40 and I was told several times that it was 10w40 and that's what it should have in it. That's what made me wonder if the bikes came dry. But yes, I'm sure they are run and that takes oil so they must come with fluids in them. Maybe some more questions of our dealers might reveal for sure how they are shipped.

Perhaps different dealers request different arrangements. I sat on the 2nd CB to get a feel for it while mine was being prepped and when I turned on the key to see the gauges my sales hurriedly told me not to start it since it came dry of fluids.
