Hey Dudes. So, I think the CB1100 is going to stay around a while longer. I love looking at it. As a piece of art, its magnificent, no matter how boring it might be from time to time.
Now, in an attempt to help that bore factor, I'm going to take a stab at something I've never really dabbled with; exhaust fabrication. See, I can't spend the $600 for a Moriwaki, no matter how much I like it. However, I've got an Emgo universal muffler that was on my CB350 and vibrated off. Now, since the 350 needs rings anyway, I was thinking of pilfering the muffler, making a flexible conduit midpipe or something, and fixing it to the 1100. It looks the era, should add some bark, and is certainly within budget. It won't be the quality of the Moriwaki, but hey, my first stab at this. Anyway, wish me luck.

I must have missed that one. But yeah, that's what I'm going for. My pipe looks exactly like that one, but it was a fair sight cheaper than the $100 they want from VooDoo. The midpipe is going the be the tricky part.

I know I'm in the minority, but I would love for someone (or me) to come up with a custom exhaust. Not because I want it louder but because I don't care for the looks. The sound is perfect. Quiet. I don't like the crotch-rocket look. It's the only part of the bike that's not retro, as far as cosmetics are concerned.
I don't really mind the 1 pipe as much as the upswept look. I would like to see 2 into 1 on each side (low pipes) or the 4 pipe as on the original CB750. Of course I'm sure if any aftermarket company comes up with a custom exhaust, it will be louder.

I'd like a little more bark in the exhaust note, it is even quieter than my BMW was.
But I M right with you about a two muffler system or even a system pattered on the original four piper. Sorry, but I just can't see $2K-$3K for the system from Australia for a $10K bike. I really hope the CB has the market penetration to justify the makers to bring systems to market.

Interesting....I just came across a Vance & Hines exhaust system for the CB750, which most online companies are selling for about $360 bucks shipped.

While I'm absolutely certain this system would not fit our bike, I'm tempted with the idea of buying one, cutting the header section off, and adapting the megaphone onto the CB1100. It is surely possible....but with how much difficulty & fabrication????

I had one of those on my old '99 Nighthawk 750. The headers and the muffler are separate pieces. The muffler slips over the collector. You might be able to buy just the muffler.

Bought a slip on from webike in Japan that cost $525 american.
It works great, sounds great and retains stock center stand.
Took about a month to get it, 10 minutes to install, no ECM
download or power commander necessary. It was the cheapest
on they had and is called a BSM-R slip on system in polished alum.
Staintune has a nice one for $900 from AF-1 racing and price goes
up from there. Tried making two or three other slip-ons work but
the 2 inch outlet after the catalyst is to small/restrictive for most
available mufflers. And the stock bike runs so good with stock pipe.
