Should my rear turn signals be on? - jimigalahad_imp - 01-04-2014

I noticed this morning that my rear turn signals aren't illuminated while the engine is on. My front signals are on so I thought it was a bit weird. All signals work when i indicate. So my question is, should you only be able to see my tail brake lights at night from behind?

I recall someone mentioned in another thread that yellow running lights in the rear are against the law in the US. Only the front should be on.

FWIW, when I had my Sportster I had some sort of plug in gizmo (cant remember what it was called) that would light up the rear signals all of the time. I changed the lenses over to red because I wanted as much light as possible at all times. I have always had a fear of being rear ended. Since that time all sorts of goodies have come out to help rear visibility.

I didn't notice how the rear signals operation until I swapped out my rear signals for the smaller version used on bikes sold in Japan. The folks on this forum set me straight!
