Jerky movement low gear high revs? - CBoz_imp - 06-09-2014

When I stay in low gears (1/2) and take the revs up above 2000 and keep it there, the cb has a jerky motion, as if the fuel supply is not constant. The exhaust also sounds 'spluttery'.

Not noticeable in high gears and high speed (eg 100 km/hr in 5th).

Is this normal? EFI related?

6000 km service was 1000km ago, so the chain tension should be within tolerance.

Comments?

Thanks.

Mine doesn't do that on the road, but I have noticed that when on the center stand, in neutral, if I try to hold it to say 2000 or 2100 or so, it wanders up and down some. I don't know why and don't consider it a problem. I thought it was just the way the EFI worked.

I notice the same thing on mine. Having not ridden many other bikes, and never owned another fuel injected bike, I just figure it's normal. I've driven cars that feel similar. You're trying to hold a fairly powerful, responsive motor at a constant speed where between the gearing and the engine you've got a lot Torgue available.

I'm guessing it's normal because mine does it, too. It's not a bucking bronco, it's just not real smooth.

you can blame the govt. the mixture is super lean at idle to about 2000 rpm to pass emissions tests.

My 14 model don't do it

Mine doesn't either.

I've noticed it, too. Had it "buck" a couple of times in the lower gears, lower rpm's. Not bad, but noticeable. Like it wants you to either accelerate or shift down, and I'm not talking about lugging it since it's still around 2K rpm. Never had it happen in 3rd or above, just 2nd. Don't stay in 1st long enough to have any problems.

quite a few threads about this exact thing, some of us have had good results with a PowerCommanderV adding some fuel richness and smooths things right out.

Thanks for the feedback, maybe PCV is next step.
Although, honda service dept did think PCV will add anything to engine behaviour.
