Oiltemp,check engine and hiss light - thomasdebess_imp - 09-11-2015
Hello fellow CB Forum members.
I have had my bike for a few months and i already had a few issues on it..
First my battery died. fixed.
Then the Oiltemp,check engine and the HISS light came on during driving. it felt like the engine stoped while the warning lights was on and started again after they disaperd. This happend a few times before i could get off the highway. And suddenly there was no problem. i went straight back to the place i work to park it. probably 6-7 km and it happends 1 more time. same thing..
does anyone have a experianse with something like this?
i should mention that the only changes i have done to the bike sinse factory new, is i put on a Moriwaki megaphone full exhaust and Chick design handguards.

Check the battery connections and make sure they are clean and tight.
Check the kill switch and kickstand switch. Make sure the clutch switch connectors are pushed on fully. That's all I can think of at the moment, but sounds like one of those or a loose/corroded connector somewhere.
You might try starting the bike and vigorously wiggling ignition key. Could be a bad ignition switch.

I put in the new battery yesterday so i know its not that.
The third time this happend i grabbed the key and whiggled it a bit and that made the lights go away. but they came back on once i stopped doing it.
My first tought was that it was the key"chip" or the HISS system that was cuss with me.

Thomas, we do not get the HISS in the US so if it is that I can't help. I don't know how it works, but I would think it works like my old car key(I have a fob now) that is read by a transponder.
If you Google Honda HISS or Honda HISS System, a lot of links come up.

Start with the easy stuff. Check the side stad switch as a couple of guys have had issues with that. It could be an intermittent bad connection causing it to die and come back on while you are moving due to road vibrations. The lights are coming on purely because the ignition stops and the computer is acting like you just turned the ignition on.

i see on the forum that there was a few issues with some of the 2013 model.
are there any other things i should fix/do before something else starts to screw with the last days of ridingseason??

well it apears that you where right. started the bike and wiggled the key and the bike stopped.
the dealer will order the parts on monday.

another thing.
i have changed the battery a few days ago. it stopped taking charging while driving. but i "rollstarted" it an drove it quite a bit.
could that be the reason for my latest problems?
Battery not charging = excessive electrisity ended up in the rest of the electric system and fried it??

Not likely. The charging system is regulated keep the system voltage at around 14V whether the battery is taking a charge or not.
It sounds like your problem is clearly a loose connection inside the ignition switch assembly.
