Need help on patching a tear on a vinyl seat - CB4ME_imp - 03-29-2016

Just hours after posting my NC700X for sale on Craigslist, I somehow managed to rip a V shaped tear in the seat. It's an area about 1.5" squared and located on the left rear side of the front seat.

I really don't want to spend $150 for a new seat. Does anyone know if there is a 2" circular black patch that I can apply to the damage area? Duct tape isn't going to work.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I think the best bet would be to have it re-covered at your local upholstery shop. May have to also do the pillion for material compatibility.

Google vinyl seat repair. Lots of DIY kits.

DIY kit can turn out alright if you follow the directions. Not perfect though. I know there are places that do upholstery repair to a professional quality. Might be worth a Google search. Or Yelp?

Or just fork over $128 for a new seat and sell the old seat to someone who is redoing theirs.

Curious... What did you end up doing?

The vinyl repair kits are difficult to get a perfect repair. You need a lot of practice to get a perfect looking repair. Having said that a "close" repair with those kits are easily done. Strength wise it will be fine. Looks wise, from 3 feet quite adequate. Less than that, quite noticeable. However the more you do the better you get. If you could get a almost new seat for a hundred bucks, I'd go that route. Lot of guys on here have replaced their seat, I'll bet one would sell you their old one that is taking up room and collecting dust.

I bit the bullet and ordered a new seat ($153 including shipping). I'll advertise the old seat over on the NC700 forum for someone who plans to alter their stock seat but doesn't want any down time. I figure $30 or $40 buck will work.
