cb1100 swingarm play fixed - max - 09-24-2017 Hi guys, newby here with a nice 1100 in red. Have been reading some of the interesting posts, well done, guys! So after checking some of the parts of my 7.500 km new for me machine and absolutely loving it ![]() i started to check the rear wheel for movement ( i found one bad bearing in my 919 hornet at 30.000k ) And indeed, the wheel moved sideways by about 3 mm, not much... Turned out the bushings were not held captive by the swingarm bolt by about .2 mm. the situation was fixed by inserting a round brass shim ( washer ) of 0.6 mm. thick between the frame and the bushes on the drive side. All is very well now, no more play and rocksteady. Best guess is the tolerance for fitting the wheel in the factory was out by 0.4 of a millimeter, the fitters have to have some clearance for the bushes to fit in the frame and then compressed by the swingarm bolt. There was another user with a ncx700 i think with a similar issue, he solved his as well. Also uploaded a video on youtube; https://youtu.be/CztY7oUtr74 Just thought is was interesting and share the knowledge Cheers Max RE: cb1100 swingarm play fixed - Wisedrum - 09-24-2017 In the second technical observation called TÜV in Germany after 4 years the engineer found out that my CB had too much swingarm play, so the Honda failed. I didn't recognized it during trips. At home my mechanic tightened the swingarm screw and everything was fine again, the CB could pass the examination. Before doing other things I would check this. Wisedrum RE: cb1100 swingarm play fixed - Cormanus - 09-24-2017 G'day Max and welcome to the forum. Good to have another antipodean member. Interesting story about the swingarm. RE: cb1100 swingarm play fixed - the Ferret - 09-28-2017 Howdy Max and welcome to the forum
