RANGE and BREAK IN - Streetshark07_imp - 11-11-2018
As in most things, I am sorry (yes, literally) for making a new thread, but my search for range returned hundreds of results and a 4 day weekend is only just so long.
But the question is:
How accurate is the given range on a now nearly 5 years old CB1100? This is with an actual 12,225 miles on the odometer.

I'm not sure what the "given range" is. It varies quite dramatically, depending on the type of riding you're doing and your personal riding style.
My '13 gets a steady 39 mpg in city driving, which includes lots of stops usually followed by some hard acceleration to get away from the pack. Conversely, on typical back roads (55-60 mph) without stops, I can expect about 53 mpg. Those numbers haven't changed in 5 years and a little over 27K miles.
To find your true range, you're going to have to figure out your mileage under various conditions. It's very dependent on how you typically handle the throttle.

Flynrider is right that the range varies dramatically depending on where you’re riding and your style.

When I got my precious ready for transport, it said it still has 25 miles range, but EMPTY.
I get it here on hooker island and it has over half a tank!!

Good question about additives. I reckon my range has dropped significantly whenever I've had stabiliser in the tank.

I very recently ran with a countdown of 35 km "left in the tank". When I refilled, almost 15L went in. For all intents and purposes the remaining range seemed correct for my current riding behaviour. Of course, if your behaviour changes, so will the calculated update.
