Honda Chain Cleaner - CB4ME_imp - 09-22-2013 Thumbs up ![]() I live on a dirt road and my chain gets absolutely filthy in a hurry. Using nothing but Honda chain cleaner and a garden hose, my chain when from this: ![]() ![]() to this: ![]() ![]() in 5 minutes! Simply spray on the cleaner, wait a few minutes, and spray it off with a jet of water. It's amazing stuff. Costs around $7 a can, and a can is probably good for 3 to 4 cleanings. RE: Honda Chain Cleaner - the Ferret - 09-22-2013 Pretty amazing difference RE: Honda Chain Cleaner - GoldOxide_imp - 02-08-2019 I used to use kerosene and an ol' men's cotton t-shirt. Apply kerosene and wipe off. Safe on the o-rings. I do this maybe twice a year, or more if it appears necessary. Process time: About 60 seconds. Lately I have been doing the same, but with WD-40. It is okay to use and a bit more convenient because it lubricates too. The gravity-fed chain auto-oiler does the rest. - - - The issue with detergent-based cleaners is possible environment impact. If that is important - for example the resultant run-off into your family vegetable garden - then that something to re-consider.
