Different side stands for each year - Houtman_imp - 06-21-2019 When I went thru the box with the Moriwaki 4 into 4 there was a side stand included to put on the 2013 when using the 4 into 4. This one has a larger foot than the original 2013. When checking my 2014 side stand I noticed that the foot on the 2014 is bigger than the 2013 and is the same as Mr. T included for installing with the exhaust. I than checked my 2017 and this one has also a bigger foot than the 2013 but narrower than the 2014 ! I had already ordered a foot extender ( as per Peterbaron ) but might not need it now for the 2013. The 2013 has quite a small foot on the side stand and perhaps that is the reason Honda went bigger for later years (after too many fall overs ?) RE: Different side stands for each year - peterbaron - 06-21-2019 ...correct, ....also seems to me that side stand for a 2014 model is bit shorter (leans more to the left side) than for a 2013....can you confirm that, John ? RE: Different side stands for each year - GoldOxide_imp - 06-21-2019 The '14 CB1100 (Standard) side stand is incredibly perfect. RE: Different side stands for each year - Lambchops_imp - 06-23-2019 I changed my 13' side stand to the 14' one that had greater lean. There are several part numbers and different in US and Japan. The story behind it is, the 10-13' didn't have enough lean and was easier to tip over if the ground wasn't too level. They made one with a greater lean angle in 14' but it was too much of a lean. Owners in Japan complained that it made the bike too heavy to straighten up. So they made another with slightly less lean. Also there was a different version to avoid hitting the twin exhaust on the EX/DLX for certain years. Check out these blogs to see the difference in lean angle and length (part numbers included). http://blog.pinosu.idv.tw/cb1100-sidestand/ https://blogs.yahoo.co.jp/multiscanjp/15185604.html RE: Different side stands for each year - Houtman_imp - 06-23-2019 The one big difference I found is that the foot on the 14 is quite a bit bigger than the 13 and therefor more stable on the ground when in use. RE: Different side stands for each year - Rocky_imp - 06-23-2019 When I first got the 1100 I had to get used to how far over the bike leaned before the sidestand touched down compared to my other Honda and bikes. |
