Removing bar end mirrors - need advice - Endeavour_imp - 08-14-2020

I’ve just purchased a 2017 CB1100RS and I want to put stock Honda bar ends back on it, replacing too-small mod bar end mirrors the previous owner added. Part number is [url=https://www.wemoto.com/parts/picture/ho-53105-mk4-620]Here

When I remove the bar end I’m left with a flush-to-end of the bar brassy fitting which the Allen screw goes into.

The problem is that OEM and other bar ends don’t fit flush, they have a section which fits inside the bar.

Can anyone advise is the flush fitting normal or a mod fitting? And do you have any idea how to remove?

Thanks
The pic shows the screw-hole end flush with the end of the handlebar. So how I wonder does the OEM bar end fit here?! Any help appreciated

What you show is not the OEM mount. You have to buy some more parts. They are shown on the site you listed, but look here for what you need, then on your site for the correct part numbers, in case they are different as we do not get the RS in the USA.

Probably the same thought. But, here: https://www.partsfish.com/oemparts/a/hon/5907903487a8660d54fac346/handlebar-top-bridge

Partsfish does have details of the RS. See https://www.partsfish.com/oemparts/a/hon/5907904187a8660d54fac370/handlebar-top-bridge

Thanks Cormanus! I didn’t see it in the list. Or missed it Sad

The brass piece you see is part of an internally expanding 2-piece "clamp" set. You should be able to loosen it by sliding the outer bolt through the brass piece and engaging the threads on the inner piece. Give it a light tap, and it should all loosen enough to be gently slid out.

As Popgun and Cormanus have shown above, there are quite a few pieces to the stock bar end - it bolts to a rubber-mounted weight that has clips that hold it into the bar.

When I bought my '13 it had a whole non-OEM handlebar and levers set up with bar-end mirrors that a PO had put on. I took those off, added OEM mirrors, which I don't like and plan to exchange. I cobbled up a mount put one of the bar-end mirrors on my bicycle. Works OK.
