It can be done - Jimbo_imp - 05-21-2021 I've seen some posts asking if these two things can be done. I have done both with my 2014 CB1100. First, I swapped my gas tank for the 2017 tank. The 2017 tank is bigger and looks better. I got the 2017 fuel pump/sending unit as well. Only problem is the fuel gauge reads a little high now. Also, you have to use a second, different key for the gas cap. And yes, it was expensive. Second, I swapped my original cast wheels for the 2017 spoke wheels. You have to change out the bracket that holds the rear brake caliper as well. There is guy in Japan I worked with on it. He got me the complete package. I think his name was Tashiki. Folks have mentioned him on the forum before. And this was expensive too. RE: It can be done - Lord Popgun - 05-21-2021 Tashiki would be Mr. T, as we call him, of samurider.com RE: It can be done - Cormanus - 05-21-2021 Takashi San isn’t he? RE: It can be done - Lord Popgun - 05-21-2021 Yeah, I spelled his name wrong.
RE: It can be done - Jimbo_imp - 05-23-2021 update on my CB1100, and it has nothing to do with modifications- here in Missouri we have these little black ants- they are everywhere and really come out in the spring. About a week ago I looked down and my tachometer display was obscured. I saw a black mass with little yellow spots seeming to float. WTF??? I squinted and saw it was a mass of ants with their eggs between the glass and the tach faceplate. For some reason they thought my tach was a good place to launch a nest. A few days ago I took the whole assembly apart and cleaned out the ants- there were thousands of them. Cleaned it all up and put it back together. When I hit the starter I got nothing. Somehow they had shorted the thing out. Now I have to buy that whole speedo/tach/center readout unit... close to $1,000. So, my days as an environmentalist are over. Hard to have sympathy for the environment when the environment costs me $1,000. And if you're wondering- yes that whole unit is sealed, but Honda left two little holes... I guess so water could drain out. Some little scout ant found that hole and said, 'oh boy, let's screw the human!' RE: It can be done - Obleo - 05-23-2021 I would disassemble it again. Those wires are small, possibly didn’t get one in the correct location . Would be worth a try instead of $1000.00 . RE: It can be done - Lord Popgun - 05-24-2021 I would also do what Obleo suggests. RE: It can be done - GoldOxide_imp - 05-24-2021 Ick. That hole experience sounds kinda gross. |
