Service indicator - unleashed - j3gq_imp - 07-23-2021 When your fuel comes to an end, your display (on a 2017+ model) allows you to display the remaining miles before the tank is empty. When your CB needs service (or like in my case, when she doesn't but this thing hasn't been reset properly) this indication is replaced with two dashes. Not very ingenious I must say. Anyway, my display shows the dashes for no reason, when I get to the end of fuel. And obviously there is a way to reset this indication, regardless of whether right or wrong. Would anybody know how I tell the darn display that the service was done, and get me my "left mileage" back ? RE: Service indicator - unleashed - jtopiso_imp - 07-23-2021 I have a '17 model and i've never seen that "service" display. RE: Service indicator - unleashed - max - 07-23-2021 In some video's they hold one button ( rh ) on the instrument cluster, hold in and then turn on the key, hold for 5 seconds , try some combination like this, even both buttons, has to be simple
RE: Service indicator - unleashed - Lord Popgun - 07-23-2021 The ‘17 owners manual says — when the remaining fuel becomes less than 0.26 US gal (1.0 L) “ - -“ ) will be displayed. There are a bunch of times other dashes will be displayed. I could find nothing about a service indicator. Link to manual I referred to: https://cdn.powersports.honda.com/documentum/MWOM/ml.remawmom.2017_31mgc620_cb1100.pdf RE: Service indicator - unleashed - j3gq_imp - 07-23-2021 (07-23-2021, 07:52 PM)jtopiso_imp Wrote: I have a '17 model and i've never seen that "service" display. That isn't a surprise. It only shows (and this is bad design I think) when the following conditions are all met at once: - a service is needed - the tank is almost empty, and - your have not selected a trip display (trip-A or trip-B) In other words I think you could easily miss a "real" service indication. My manual says the following in the neighborhood of the display description: when “dash-dash-dash” is displayed in other cases, go to your dealer for service." But the exact logic beets me. And no mentioning of how to get rid of it. RE: Service indicator - unleashed - Lord Popgun - 07-23-2021 That is because it is a failure indication that needs repair. You may just need to reseat some connectors. Maybe the meter connectors, etc. Might be a serial data bus problem or whatever. Not much help there, huh? But I haven’t looked into this as my bike doesn’t have that or all the data display you have. When did the problem start? Did it start after you did something, like add a farkle or have the tank off or headlight open, etc? If so, go back and check everything for proper connection, no bent pins, pinched wires, etc. RE: Service indicator - unleashed - mvk24_imp - 07-27-2021 (07-23-2021, 08:56 PM)Lord Popgun_imp Wrote: The ‘17 owners manual says — when the remaining fuel becomes less than 0.26 US gal (1.0 L) “ - -“ ) will be displayed.Yea I see the dashes when I get low enough on gas. It usually tells me like 40 miles to empty, 34, 25, 20, -- When I see -- its my bikes way of saying "idk how much longer we can keep this cuss up get some cuss gas" 2014 CB1100, 1981 KZ440 LTD, 1993 Yamaha XJ600 Seca, 1994 Yamaha XJ600 Seca |
