Handlebar: passage of cables - pericleromano_imp - 11-01-2021
I bought my CB1100EX one week ago.
I seen that the previous owner mounted a lower handlebar, it is no bad but all the cabbles (brake tube, trottle cables and wiring) has a bad way......
I bought an other stock handlebar and I will assembly it next days.
Is it possible to have any pictures with the complete details of the passage of cables in a stock bike, please?

Funny you say that, I had to change the routing a little when I installed the lower bars and then when i was installing risers and my emgo fairing last winter I noticing either my throttle or throttle return line was rubbing on something and the sleeve of the cable started wearing
Moral of the story check the lines and make sure they didn't wear the outside off from turning and rubbing one they were routed with a short handlebar.

After riding some years i found that the throttle cables started to develop a permanent bend due to the too acute bending when the steering is fully locked to the right.
My solution was to rotate the forward support loop 90 degrees and out of the way so the cables have more room to move forward and to lower the cables from the rear support on the frame by a black string for the same reason.
Both cables now have a good amount of movement without too much bending, i also have the lower handlebars so that may make some difference in your case, check the cables for excessive bending when the steering is in the right hand lock position.

Now my garage is a disaster, I have 4 bikes in my rent home (Bimota SB6R, Triumph 900 Trophy, BMW F800GS and CB1100EX) one bike (Kawasaki 500 Mach III) in other rent garage (togheter all tools, work benches, lifting bench.... etc.) and two bikes in my mom's garage (Gillera RC600R and Honda 750 Four only for race use).
Currently there is such a mess that I don't even want to look at it!
We bought a new house with a large garage, and with the new year I hope the renovation will finish: I will be happy to send you the pictures with all bikes togheter
I was wondering if it was possible to have clear pictures to see where the various cables (throttle cables, brake, clutch, wiring, etc.) pass, the area of my interst is the upper steering plate and the headlight supports.

The factory service manual has the cable, hose and wiring routing drawings in the front section. Since we cannot post copyrighted material on the forum, please send me a PM with your email and I will send pics.

hi pericle, I took photos today, but it ain’t an easy task. You have to be close and this reduces the field of depth. Any way, posting will take a little while. Check tonight after 18.00h GMT. Meanwhile do also follow peking’s advice. Till later
