Anybody travel Lincoln Highway xcountry ? - bflint - 06-24-2022
Hey folks. Have any of you folks ever traveled (moto or car or etc) the full Lincoln Higway? I am thinking about doing it from San Francisco to New York City. There are a couple of "official" resources out there (including lincolnhighwayassoc.org) but this historic 1915 "Father Road" passage does not seem to be that well documented like the "Mother Road" Route 66 passage.

I think its a lot like RT 66 in that parts of the original road are missing, but you can ride beside it in a lot of places. Also it is a different route number east of PA ( I think)

I’ve traveled the short section west of Omaha, NE, which is on the original brick roadbed. It was neat in a nostalgic sort of way but certainly not worth the effort of riding all the way through Nebraska just to experience it.
I’ve also traveled along US 30 in Cheyenne, WY, which was part of the original routing. In fact, that stretch is called Lincolnway but is now mostly a business route through town. There are some neat old motels and cafes along that stretch and since it’s only about 1.5 hours from my home, I do enjoy going up there to enjoy the vibe. If you’re into the history and story behind the transcontinental railroad, Union Station in Cheyenne is a must-see.

It's a heck of a nice road through Pennsylvania. I've never ridden it anywhere else but I imagine it will take some time as there will be plenty of small towns to slow your pace.

I've often thought Rt 20 would be a great ride. Here in the east, it is much more scenic. It is also the longest road in the country. Looking forward to hearing about your trip.
