Hi

Are handlebar switches pegged to the handlebars?

Want to reposition the handlebars, clutch and brake levers etc are fine but can the switches be re-positioned or are they pegged to the handlebars?

Based on this brand new 2013 switch, I would say yes, but its plastic retaining pin needs to be ground down. I'm not sure if this will tend to rotate?
It can be "fixed" by wrapping tape around the handlebar to make it thicker...or somthing like that, your choice.

Yes they are pegged, when I got new bars I had to drill out holes to have the controls in the right position

I would definitely recommend drilling new holes. The tape method is not a permanent solution, especially on the throttle side.

I replaced the LH side switch on my 2014 Deluxe with a switch from a 2013 CB1100 because I did not like the location of the horn button. This was about ten years ago, but I believe that I had to drill a new hole for the peg. I agree with pekingduck, drilling a new hole is the proper way to go.

That's what this 2013 switch has been waiting for. Once I sell my '14 std it will be installed on my DLX.

My 2017 EX has a metal plate inside the switch assembly that fits inside a cut in the handlebars rather than a plastic pin. Guessing that might have been an update and is probably more durable than plastic.

Thanks for the replies. Will split one and see if it is practical to drill another hole if cable length will allow as you raise the handlebars up higher it stretches the cable a bit,
