How to turn on HTML in forum signature? - meowguy_imp - 06-30-2013
Does anyone know how to turn on HTML in your forum signature? I am trying to create a link to my fuelly.com page and all that shows up is a hyper link instead the actual html code. As you can see the code works perfectly in the text section of a message (box below), but not in the signature portion of the message below the black line. Setup in UserCP says HTML is OFF.

Hi meowguy,
That functionality has been disabled in the forum settings.
I've experienced too many forums where people have stuck huge images in their signatures. The result is that threads become clogged up with with these images and it becomes more difficult to find/read the basic information presented in the thread. This is especially true when someone with a large signature contributes to a thread multiple times. So, rather than opening up the forum to those potential scenarios, I've disabled this functionality all together. Obviously this wouldn't be a big issue with the code you're presenting, but sooner or later it would make for one more thing to keep up with as the forum continues to grow and others were to modify their signatures.

OK. Thanks. And people should be discouraged from using REPLY quoting huge posts with all kinds of pictures in them. A simple "New Reply" would suffice and leave out all that stuff. Important referenced text can be quoted separately without bringing all the extra.

Agree completely. People need to selectively edit the post they're quoting (yes this post is an example). Although I understand many people here probably aren't familiar with basic HTML

It's even simpler than that. There is a button for it on menu bar in the edit window. Sheesh, it could not be easier. Push the Quote icon, paste your text, push the Quote icon again. Done.

You raise a good point meowguy. That said, we all have varying skill sets and comprehension levels when it comes to computers and the web. I think most everyone is simply doing the best they can. Many of us learn from examples set by others. so the more selective quoting is used, the more widespread it will become.
