Is it just my fat butt, or does anyone else bottom out the exhaust going slow over these wretched things?!?!?

Wow...I don't think I've ever even come close. Then again, I'm a lean 150lbs in full riding gear.
How much do you weigh, and what's the rear suspension set at?

260 dry....yeah I know...LARD -O-LAD!!...lol.
I go around them in my complex, but I took the bike in to get prices on a front tire (back one is still good...odd) and having my valve adjustment done and I couldn't avoid the one they had (no gaps...grrrr) and SCRAPE! DAMN IT!!! Makes me nuts.
Oh...I'm at about 8750 miles....will be well into 9000 by next Saturday when I take it in.

I weigh 230 dry, 250 wet. First gear easily wheelies right over speed bumps if you are looking for an easier solution than laying off the burgers.

With the wife onboard, we are a good 40 lbs over max weight. However the only speedbump we've hit was a wicked 6" high, 18" wide speedbump in a car dealership back lot. One of the seams on the exhaust collector picked up a sliver of asphalt but no decernable damage was done.

165, no problem. Sounds like the extra mass is making the bike work.
You have several options available. As my doctor said, we can do this the easy way or the hard way. Buy new shocks, HD springs for front and rear and you should be good to go. Or you can shed some weight (can't see it being any cheaper; you'll have redo your wardrobe ). You already know the advantages to either route. Good luck!

I've never scraped, but I always stand up when going over speed bumps just in case.

Yeah, never had any problem but I haven't been over any big ones. I almost always get my butt off the seat just a little bit and stand on the pegs when I'm about to go over something that looks like it could be a bump.
