CB1100 gas mileage at 56 MPG - cbdtran_imp - 09-03-2013

It just pass 950 miles, I had first oil change at 550 with regular Shell "synthetic blend" 10w-30 and notice gas mileage improves a lot from 43 MPG at 100 miles to 56 MPG lately - 217 miles trip with 3.86 gallons today (first refill at 51 miles with .86 gal; today 3 gal for a total of 217) Gas mileage improves each time I fill up. when NEW at 43, 45, 49, 51, now 56.

I ride neither aggressive nor conservative, frequent at 70-80 MPH in hiway, occasional accelerate hard to 5K+ RPM; in city I shift later than Honda recommends (5th at 27 MPH, I regular at 35) City riding is worse because of stop and go. I admit I break in the bike gently for I intend to extract as much as I can from gas, tires and chain.

Honda claimed CB1100 has 60 MPG, I now believe if I ride at 70 MPH in hiway and gently in city, it is possible. my goal is to hit the 60 MPG. Just bought the windshield and follow up in the future with mileage.

what is yours?

I have been checking my mileage everytime I fill up and it has varied from 45 to 55 mpg. Just got back from a weekend trip to the Loess Hills in western Iowa and my mileage varied from 50 to an all time high for me of 56.8mpg!!! We rode two lane highways mostly at 60 to 65 mph!! I'm sure that if I rode more conservatively I would see 60mpg!! I have about 5500 miles on my bike.

My record on mileage was 56.8

My record on a tank: From a previous thread:

It keeps getting better and better.

Today I went on flashing reserve at 146.8 miles

Went 33.1 miles on reserve

Got gas at 179.9 miles

Took 3.286 gallons

55 mpg.

It may be possible to go 200 miles on a tank.

I'll keep pushing it for you guys until I find the limit...at which point I 'll be pushing it lol

I get around 49-50 mpg riding 2-up. One has to take it real easy with the wife onboard.

I get 44-45 mpg riding solo. One has to make up for all that slower going.

You guys are getting awesome mileage. And riding "normally" to boot!

my former Suzuki GS500F got 60 MPG AT half the engine size and horse power. CB1100 has more gas mileage than most my previous middle weighted bikes while I ride it the way I ride my Suzie.

Its good you guys are keeping track of this, so all I need to do is fill it up whenever my butt gets sore or I feel like talking to someone :-)
