Okay, test rode my 250 mile 2104 EX (Deluxe-ish) today.
"Lots of interest in this bike sir, I have two other potential buyers coming to see it...."
Yeah, right,....... although it WAS getting a lot of attention on the forecourt.
I say 'my' 'cos after a nervy ride...
(one embarassing incident when a rather nice lady driver stopped to let me out of a junction, I cooly wave at her ...and promptly stall it...I mean, how can you stall a 1140 cc bike with the reported pulling power of one of those tractor thingies that move jumbo jets around the pan?)
(..and I got lost on my way back to the dealer, ....okay two incidents)
(...and it's only when I got passed by an ST1300 that I realise I was riding in car driver mode in a queue of traffic....three)
(... and, yes I KNOW you don't blip the throttle on an upshift...four)
(...the fifth doesn't count as I'm sure,I was out of earshot of the dealer when I hit the horn instead of the turn signal)
(LOOK, IT'S BEEN FIFTEEN YEARS OUT OF THE SADDLE OK ??)
......I paid the deposit, and am picking it up next Saturday!
Now, I need some help.
Already the voices in my head are going:
'OMG what have you DONE??',
'You're paying HOW MUCH ...for a second hand bike??',
'I'm not sure you can get it in the garage'
'If you get it in the garage, I'm not sure you can get it out again..'
'Your car's covered in bird sh!t, how on earth do you expect to cope with cleaning spoked wheels?'
Any suggestions how to deal with the gremlins in my head??
So far, the plan is to dose with copious amounts of alcohol between now and next week (at which time, I will, of course become a teetotal, responsible CB owner, like the rest of you)
Cormanus - you'll be pleased to know that the Kawasaki sales lady (attractive as ever, no mini skirt this time, - tight leggings) was very understanding, and, I think, secretly impressed by my discerning taste as you suggested. Less,so, perhaps ,by the fact that I was dripping with sweat in the unseasonable British summer heat wave we are having at the moment.

You bought a really nice bike that should last for a long time that is virtually brand new for less than you would have paid with had it not been simply taken for a test ride.
A better question is, "How am I going to get my car back in the garage?"
Thanks to the center stand my bike is gracious enough to allow my car to share its' space.
Best thing to do between now and when you pick it up is shop for a new helmet and jacket to keep the gremlins at bay.

A car, AND. a motorbike inside the garage, and at the same time you say? what a quaint idea!
When we bought our house, new build; I think that I could have got the car into the empty garage - i'm also pretty certain that having got it in, I would not have been able to open the door to get out of the car.

Have you any idea how much DIY I had to do to put up shelving, wall hooks, canoe racks etc, just to see enough of the floor to hope to get a bike in?

Good positive way of looking at things, though, thank you - you are clearly a 'glass half full person' as opposed to a 'which one of you b######s pinched my beer' person.
As regards the jacket and helmet - you are clearly clairvoyant - my Fox Creek, beautiful as it is, is clearly not adapted for global warming, (the dealer's summer jackets were flying off the shelves today), and my open face helmet and sunglasses, bought in anticipation that I would go for a cruiser, are not going to be up to the job for the CB.
60mph had tears streaming down my face, and no, not because of the standard of my riding.

Put the car outside. The bird@~*^ will continue to protect it from the elements.

With only 250 mi. on the clock, that's just a tiny bit into the "second hand" zone. My brand new CB1100 had 250 mi. on it the day after I picked it up.

In... funny post!!! My view... as long as you're not going into debt on it and can afford it... go for it. 1st, 2nd, or 3rd bike... it doesn't matter. You're going to LOVE this machine!
