Never leave home without your camera - Cormanus - 09-15-2014 I live in a small country town in South East Queensland Australia. The population is said to be in the order of 1,700. So imagine my surprise when I went to the town this afternoon and saw this: There aren't many of these things in Australia. What's another one doing on my patch? I guess one of the virtues of a small town is that it didn't take me too long to track down the owner. "Is that your bike?" I asked. "Yes" "Wow, it's only the second one I've seen in the wild." (Coincidentally, they were both white and I wasn't counting the two other CB110s I've seen when I've arranged to meet the owners—Enzo and Pterodactyl.) "It's not what you think," he said. "I know what it is. I've got one. A black one." "Yeah?" he was surprised, "I've only seen one other in the wild too. It was grey." "Had it long?" "No. I moved up from a CB750A Hondamatic." The penny dropped. "I remember that. We met outside the bakery one day." (see [url=http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=2524]here) "Your bike was black?" he said, "I'd have sworn it was grey. Anyway, seeing your bike persuaded me to buy this one." He told me it was a 2010 model and he'd bought it reasonably locally with about 14,000 kms on it. I told him about the forum and we chatted for a bit. Who'd have thunk it? I forgot to suggest we went for a ride one day. I hope I'll see him around again, although later I figured from something he said that he's had since early July at least and I've not seen it before. I've now seen CBs in all the colours imported to Australia. They're all lovely. You can't see it from this photograph, but the white paint looked lustrous and had a metallic fleck through it. RE: Never leave home without your camera - Pterodactyl_imp - 09-15-2014 Cormanus, your thread title took me back a long time to when I was a kid. My Dad, an old bushie, used to say to me, 'The things you see when you haven't got a gun'. Great to meet another CB owner. Hope you didn't let him escape without referring him to this forum. Or did you? The white looks nice but reminds me of the old Police CBs. I wonder why that would bother me ? Cheers mate. RE: Never leave home without your camera - the Ferret - 09-15-2014 Well how cool is that? The chap was inspired by your CB, bought one of his own, and then you run into him again. fate! Wonder if he kept the Auto 750. I have never seen one of those in the wild.. Yes, I never leave without my camera. I have seen several Cb 1100s, one just the other night, always going the opposite direction, in a place inconvenient to turn around. RE: Never leave home without your camera - Cormanus - 09-15-2014 Ferret, he sold the Auto 750. I remembered when I dug up the other post that it was for sale when I saw it. He told me it had started oozing oil whenever he got it over 100 kph. Pterodactyl, lots of people have said that to me over the years. Can't think why. I told the bloke about this forum, but neglected to see if he was up for a ride sometime. RE: Never leave home without your camera - pechorin75_imp - 09-15-2014 I wonder if that's a non-factory paint job on his fuel tank...I don't see the customary silver stripe, unless it's just the light. RE: Never leave home without your camera - the Ferret - 09-15-2014 Good eye Pechorin I also wonder..did someone paint that tree or is it wearing a sock. RE: Never leave home without your camera - Randy B - 09-16-2014 They didn't get the stripes down under. RE: Never leave home without your camera - Cormanus - 09-16-2014 Beat me to it, Randy. Thanks. No stripes. No 2014 model.
