When my dealer sold me my 2013 CB1100, they failed to mention what a great flat tracker it makes.

I just finished organizing my warehouse space, and figured it would be fun to take a few laps around the support columns inside the building. The bike slides easily, and it responds in a predictable manner to moderate applications of throttle and light counter steering. The ABS actually works quite well during hard braking on the relatively smooth finished concrete floor, so I keep off the brakes and just use the throttle.

Building manager was walking by at the time and he was quite impressed.

Interesting. So what does it feel like when the ABS kicks in?

We need this on video.

Fun out of boredom. It was raining outside and didn't want to get wet. I rode a couple of bikes over for winter storage between downpours, and a friend was supposed to pick me up from there.

The bike kinda squats down when the ABS is working, but I think that this is more so because of the combined brakes on this model. You feel a brief vibration through the lever and pedal, and the bike simply stops without locking the wheels. Amazing how fast it works.

Hahaha... well, next time I'll get a film crew.
I need to explain that I am a fairly seasoned woods rider, and I competed regularly up until I had to give my full time attention to running my automotive business.

I would love to see one of our CBs on a flat track course. I went to some races this past January and wondered how our bikes would do. There were a number of Ducati Scramblers and various HDs (in addition to the professional flat track machines). It was wild and dirty and not something I could easily picture our refined, well-mannered bikes participating in. I would imagine them to be a bit on the heavy side.

I hope you get the film crew together soon. I, too, would love to see this!

Careful around those columns, the CB will high-side real easy on cement.

I thought about how nasty a highside would be, and throwing my bike down on the least expensive (non muffler) side wasn't an option either.

I rode around the indoor space counter clockwise and kept a foot out on the turns. It's smooth, finished concrete and it is quite slick, so it invites sliding. I don't think I'll do it again though. Maybe on my CR500....Wink
