STD to DLX upgrade kit? - Shinchan_imp - 11-12-2015 I'm surprised that Honda has not offered a DLX upgrade kit with the exhaust, larger tank, side covers, seat etc available to dealers to help move some of the leftover standard units off the floor. Of course the engine would still be the STD color and non-abs standards would not magically get ABS, but I think it's an interesting idea. If not that, some other bolt-on dress up kit to get folks more excited about the STDs. When the CB450K0 Black Bomber first came out, there were a lot of leftover units so Honda released a "D" kit with a different tank, side covers, chrome fenders, and a scrambler-style exhaust that dealers could bolt on to change the appearance of the bike. It helped to get rid of the old K0 stock so that they could get the new 5-speed versions of the CB450 into showrooms. These days, Black Bombers are fairly scarce but the D kit is even rarer, with complete mint examples selling north of $10k. Stock K0: The same model with a D kit installed: RE: STD to DLX upgrade kit? - the Ferret - 11-12-2015 yea baby, CB 1100 SCRAMBLER! RE: STD to DLX upgrade kit? - Rick Froscheiser_imp - 11-12-2015 That could be very interesting. RE: STD to DLX upgrade kit? - EGAlvarez_imp - 11-12-2015 Whitehouse offers a "deluxe kit" to dress up the CB and make it look more retro but it cost more than $5500 shipped for the entire kit. http://www.samurider.com/?p=19957/#itemImage I doubt most people would be willing to spend more than $3500-4000 for an "upgrade kit" from Honda. RE: STD to DLX upgrade kit? - Shinchan_imp - 11-13-2015 I believe the D kit was about 10% of the cost of a new bike to end consumer and probably discounted from that for dealers who wanted to install it. These days, of course, everything is more expensive in relationship to the original cost of the bike... RE: STD to DLX upgrade kit? - INTP_imp - 11-13-2015 I have DLX seat, sprocket cover and sidecovers on my 2013. I would still like the 4-2 exhaust, but most choices are very expensive. RE: STD to DLX upgrade kit? - CA200_imp - 11-13-2015 I would go for - tank ,side cover upgrade kit. When I was a teenager I wanted a CB450KO so bad I could taste it. My dad would not cosign a loan so ended up with a used YDS3. The Black Bomber had one thing Honda had never tried before or after I think. Torsion bar valve springs. Missing one of the Co2 sensors but they can be bought for $150 new, or use existing one from your stock exhaust. RE: STD to DLX upgrade kit? - Shinchan_imp - 11-13-2015 They actually used the torsion bars through the whole run of the CB450K-series and into the CB500t. I will contact him, thanks for the tip. |
