Engine vibration / chain slack - LongRanger_imp - 05-14-2016
After replacing my rear tire a few weeks ago, during my first ride on the new tire I felt an unusual amount of engine vibration at speeds over about 40 mph, which is uncharacteristic for this bike. Checking the wheel alignment, I discovered the chain had about 2" of slack. Somehow it must have loosened when I was tightening the axle nut.
I readjusted the chain to 1 1/4" and tightened everything back up. Despite today's crappy weather, I took the bike out for a short ride and voila! the vibration is gone. And ooooh, now the bike has that new tire smell! Love it.

i'm battling with some unusually clunky shifting between 1st and 2nd.
i've adjusted the crankshaft/transmission balance as well as the chain. however, i probably was too conservative with the adjustments. i might tighten things up a bit more and see what happens.
if anybody knows any good threads that address clunky shifting between 1st and 2nd i'm all eyes...

An oil change might solve it.
Mine's clunky going into 1st, but based on the comments on this forum, it's not uncommon.

I experience that as well. It's been that way as long as I've had it through several oil changes and after adjusting the backlash. It slightly goes away just after I adjust the chain to minimum slack but will come back eventually. I don't think it's really any issue or problem with the bike. It just clunks into 2nd most of the time, not unlike the sound it makes when clunking into 1st from neutral at a standstill. Shifting to and from any other gear is smooth and quiet.
