Need Help Putting Pieces Back Together!! - Bighonda14_imp - 08-06-2016

My brand new to me DLX made it about 4 hours ago. Looks near perfect!! I have been detailing it and taking off some the accessories I don't want. One of them is the rear luggage rack. I think I got in a bit over my head! I was able to get it off, but am not sure which bolts, etc., are meant to go back on now that the rack is off. The chrome piece that has the rear blinker on it is dangling down on both sides.

Can someone give me super clear instructions on how to re-assemble those 4 bolts? Which washers, etc., and in which order are meant to go back on?

Any photos or drawings from the shop manual?

THANKS!! Next time I'll move a bit slower, and in better light!
I tracked down a copy of the installation instructions. Not sure if that will give clear answers on how to un-install.

Is it a Honda rack? Go here for instructions: http://cssportal.css-club.net/honda/MCA/TERMS010.aspx

For part breakouts go to any on-line parts fiche, like say, this one: http://www.partsfish.com/oemparts/a/hon/52f28c29f870021404ec5a7a/seat-2
There is also a How-to for the 13s and below, but will help with the pics

Yes it's the Honda rack
I now see there are parts I am missing if I want to put it back together without the rack.

Does anyone have the original garnish stay and bolt for each side and are not using them because you installed the rear rack and intend to keep it on?

It is only shown on the DLX so I can't help.

Any chance of reaching out to the original owner for the parts?

Good idea. The bike was sold or traded in to Fay Meyers (Colorado). I can reach out to my sales guy on Tuesday. I think the original owner's name is on one of the documents I found.

Until then, put on and commence riding!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the hardware consists of 4 bolts longer than the original 4 bolts. When you remove the rack, you are going to need the stock bolts (which are shorter). You can't put the garnishes back on until you've got those 4 bolts and if you can't put the garnishes on you can't put the turn signals on and hence can't ride anywhere.

On the parts diagram posted above by popgun (which I am placing immediately below for convenience), it looks like you'll need 2 of part #15 and 2 of part #17 plus, if you don't have them 2 of part #1 and 4 of part #4.

It's different for the 2013 STD, and simpler.

I just needed to order 4 of part #11.

Well, he could ride in Colorado without the turn signals. They're not required here.

I'm sure you can just order the parts for real cheap. Can't imagine some bolts and washers being more than 15 to 20 bucks tops. Shipping should be quick. Just bolt up what you have, order what you need and ride until then.
