Best disc and helmet lock - pittycheria_imp - 05-14-2017 Looking for suggestions on how you keep your cb1100 and helmet secure - disc lock and helmet , any pointers greatly appreciated Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk RE: Best disc and helmet lock - Randy B - 05-14-2017 (05-14-2017, 09:08 AM)pittycheria_imp Wrote: Looking for suggestions on how you keep your cb1100 and helmet secure - disc lock and helmet , any pointers greatly appreciated With the crazies out here in Comifornialand that will either take anything and everything, or just do stupid things to it if they either cant take it or just don't feel like it's worth it, I put my helmet in my top case, or just take it inside with me. Out of sight, out of mind. There are documented cases of helmets being used as urinals and toilets out here and I'm not having any of that. As far as the disk lock goes, you have to be ever aware of it. I have tried to drive off with mine still on the rotor....TWICE....I don't recommend doing that...lol. Also a disk lock won't stop them from just loading the bike into a truck, or using a small trailer to take the bike. Short of chaining the bike to a pole with something that requires days to cut through, they will get your bike if they want it badly enough. Watch this video and see just how long they are at it WITH A GRINDER in the middle of the day and nobody bats an eye at them. RE: Best disc and helmet lock - the Ferret - 05-14-2017 For a helmet lock I use a helmet guardian. You can see it beside my licence plate in this pic, but ![]() Runs about $50. Just one place to get it: [url=https://www.jakewilson.com/p/4848/-/1044754/Helmet-Guardian-Helmet-Lock-Black?gclid=Cj0KEQjwgODIBRCEqfv60eq65ogBEiQA0ZC5-THEQvrqhRW4zR_yryBZ-RBdqpdyyh5l_g3IrgatiGgaAkvP8P8HAQ]https://www.jakewilson.com/p/4848/-/1044754/Helmet-Guardian-Helmet-Lock-Black?gclid=Cj0KEQjwgODIBRCEqfv60eq65ogBEiQA0ZC5-THEQvrqhRW4zR_yryBZ-RBdqpdyyh5l_g3IrgatiGgaAkvP8P8HAQ An unscrupulous person with a knife in his pocket might just leave you with a couple D rings hanging there. Often I will just sit it on the ground or hang it from the high side footpeg or handlebars. For locking the bike, unless I am on a trip I just use the fork lock. If on a trip I carry a large cable and ask at the hotel if I can park next to the front door. Stop gap measure at best. If a thief wants something they will figure a way to get it. They steal paintings from the Louvre for pete's sake. RE: Best disc and helmet lock - LongRanger_imp - 05-14-2017 lol Is this Ferret's technique to keeping his chain clean? 1. Remove chain guard 2. Point garden hose at chain and apply water at full force RE: Best disc and helmet lock - the Ferret - 05-14-2017 Yes not really .. http://www.cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=9243 RE: Best disc and helmet lock - emptysea - 05-14-2017 (05-14-2017, 09:08 AM)pittycheria_imp Wrote: Looking for suggestions on how you keep your cb1100 and helmet secure - disc lock and helmet , any pointers greatly appreciated The CB1100 comes with a helmet lock. if you have the honda extension cable, you can (with a little work) attach two full-face helmets to the lock. RE: Best disc and helmet lock - Cormanus - 05-14-2017 Or get a couple of these ... http://www.rockycreekdesigns.com.au/helmetlok.html |
