Dealer Response to RFQ on 2017 CB1100 EX - Cormanus - 05-30-2017 Well, aside from the obvious need for some remedial language education, he (or she) either knows much more about the popularity of the new CB1100 than do we; knows much less than we do about its popularity; is just rolling out a standard sales patter in the belief you'll fall for it; or is not the sharpest chisel in the drawer. I can't be sure which, but I doubt that our understanding of the bike's popularity is too far off the mark. RE: Dealer Response to RFQ on 2017 CB1100 EX - LongRanger_imp - 05-30-2017 Agreed, not sure I'd interpret it that way either. He's probably reluctant to floor a bike that didn't sell well the last go-round. I'm having the same problem with my Guzzi dealer -- he's refusing to carry the all-new V7 because the warehouses are still full of unsold '16's. RE: Dealer Response to RFQ on 2017 CB1100 EX - Cormanus - 05-30-2017 Do you really want the all new one, LongRanger? Is it worth trying to cut a deal on the '16 model? Or is the new model superior in every way? RE: Dealer Response to RFQ on 2017 CB1100 EX - LongRanger_imp - 05-30-2017 I'm infatuated with the bike, but I won't know if I really want one (and can fit on one) until I see it in the flesh. But yes, it has a redesigned engine this year, plus various chassis and suspension updates that appear to be an improvement vs. the '16's. Not unlike the updates to the '17 CB. Perfectly succinct summary, Cormanus. That's how I see it as well. The '17 CB1100 EX is on my radar, but I'm not "desperate" to get one. I see that you replied to my garage build thread. My plan is to get the garage built, see how much money is left in the Stichill family piggy bank, and then if it's not too spare see if Mrs. Stichill would entertain the idea of a new occupant gracing the Taj Magarage. P.S. The zero "0" as a capital "O" was priceless. RE: Dealer Response to RFQ on 2017 CB1100 EX - the Ferret - 05-30-2017 If the garage ends up costing more than you had hoped, there are always deals around here on slightly ( some very slightly) used CBs. Btw Yamaha Days at Beechmont is June 23-24 or something like that. My son will be there but I will be on another trip if it's on those dates. RE: Dealer Response to RFQ on 2017 CB1100 EX - Stichill - 05-31-2017 Good point, ferret. Well taken. I've marked Yamaha Demo days on the calendar! Thanks for the heads-up. |
