An interesting video on the Honda Dream bikes

pdedse, thanks for posting this video. During my teen years in the 1960s, I wanted a motorcycle more than I wanted a car. Luckily, my Dad, who owned an Indian Chief (until he married my Mother), was instrumental in talking my mother into allowing me to get me my first motorcycle. He found this beauty for me:

It is a CA95 Benly, aka the Baby Dream, 150cc. Why do I consider it a beauty, because this motorcycle taught me about the thrill of the ride and freedom. Sure, I liked my friend’s CB160 better, but I was still happy with my “ride”.
When it was time for college, my Father found the subject bike, the CA77 Dream which was better suited for a 270 mile trip home.

I put many miles riding the Dream with lot of great memories. I sold that bike to my Calculus III professor when my Dad found me a CL350K2. All of these motorcycles were used, but with very low mileage.
Unfortunately, the CL350 was stolen in just 3 months.
After college, I found the CB77 Superhawk from a person who had to sell it for a long distance relocation. I still ride the Superhawk today.

To tell you the truth, if I had to choose between the Dream or the Superhawk as a daily commuter, I would pick the Dream. The Superhawk, with its 180 degree crank, is more erratic, and with annoying vibrations. Yes, it is faster and handles better (for the 1960s) than the Dream.
So m in sc, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, especially when this beholder is an old guy who is a member if the VJMC. Wink
