Oil Filter - dave - 07-24-2026
Upon visual inspection, the oil filter I'm using for my 2025 Lexus ES 300H appears externally identical to the stock Honda oil filter. A Honda, OEM oil filter retails for $18.63 from my local dealer. The Toyota (Lexus) oil filter costs $6.99 from my local dealer, and they include a free oil drain plug gasket. The Toyota part number is: 90915-YZZN1. Does anyone know if the Toyota oil filter can be used on the CB1100? Toyota is known for producing high-quality parts, so quality is not a question (after all, I'm using these filters on my $55k Lexus). What I don't know if there is something internally different (bypass pressure?) that would make the Toyota filter unacceptable for use on a CB1100. Your thoughts?

Are you completely sure about the part number, just asked google AI (I can't rely on it) but it mentions its not compatible:
The Purolator 14006 filter will not fit a Honda CB1100 EX motorcycle.The Honda CB1100 EX requires a metric M20x1.5 thread pitch oil filter. The Purolator 14006 uses a completely different standard 13/16-16 UNC thread pitch, which is typically designed for American automotive V8 engines (such as older Chevrolet/GMC models).
Bypass Valve:
None
Purolator Boss PBL14610: Yes (approx. 14–18 PSI)
If you want to use a premium, high-mileage Purolator Boss filter on your motorcycle, the correct part number is the Purolator Boss PBL14610"

PbL14612 is what i run i mistakenly typed pbl 14006 that filter was for a car and was on my amazon that was a mistake the 14612 has a bypass of 12-14 lbs same as the honda filter ii went out and looked at my bike and released i mistakenly put the wrong filter in my post

the 10 would fit due to my exhaust the 12 is shorter does the same job

please read my stuff here i have the pbl14612 the 612 is shorter fits better for my bike that the pbl14610
The PurolatorBOSS PBL14610 and PBL14612 are both premium, spin-on synthetic oil filters utilizing identical thread sizes (M20x1.5) and relief valve settings (14-18 PSI), but differ primarily in overall canister length/height, internal media surface area, and vehicle application size class

I have always used oem filters, but recently a friend sold his bike and passed on to me a few new Hi-Flo filters. He said they are comparable to the oem filters.
Any opinions?

I've built a around 80 car engines and 100+ 2 stroke and 4 stroke dirt bike and motorcycle engine and the only filters I've ever had issues with are the cardboard internals on the cheap frams not a fan of those orange pieces of junk seen several come apart at the glue seam and destroy stuff

Always OEM for any of my vehicles, no regrets.
