Instrument panel protectors? - LucienLeFranc - 05-07-2026 Anyone using these or any opinions? I was disappointed with the protectors clarity and fit so I removed and discarded them. Maybe purchasing from an established vendor could be better than I experienced. RE: Instrument panel protectors? - LucienLeFranc - 05-07-2026 Maybe the better question is have any of you long-time owners ever experienced scratches or other marring of the "glass" that makes them wish they had had protection? Without knowing what the "glass" is composed of, it's tough to know if it needs protection or not. The "glass" screen on my ruggedized mobile phone is so tough that no screen protector is required, but how scratch and scuff resistant is the CB instrument "glass?" RE: Instrument panel protectors? - rdprdp01 - 05-07-2026 I am a fair-weather rider. No issues for me whatsoever. Even if I rode in harsher conditions with more exposure to sun, moisture, wind, and dust, I suspect I would report the same. The angle of the instrument panel, materials, and design provide a nice offset to normal wear. I had the same concern you have but took a different approach. I ceramic coated the glass to help prevent minor scratches and swirl marks. I also do not have anything attached to the key itself to prevent an accidental scratch while inserting the key and actuating the ignition. Although my motorcycle has low miles, I have seen fantastic pictures of speedometer milestones from other Forum Members. I have yet to see a noticeable scratch even on motorcycles with 100,000+ miles. David RE: Instrument panel protectors? - Cormanus - 05-08-2026 I wouldn't dare say that my gauge class is in mint condition, but I have no trouble reading them after 169,000 kilometres. RE: Instrument panel protectors? - Gone in 60 - 05-08-2026 Thinking about this, I have protection on all of my bikes except my CB. I’ve used plastic polish to eliminate any minor scratches when I bought my bike from the original owner’s dry towel wipe downs. I am just careful and only wipe the gauges with a damp microfiber. |
