Learned something new about the CB yesterday - Inline4_imp - 05-14-2018 As most of you know I have to sell my beloved CB due to health reasons. My main issue is constant trembling/shaking and I am not very steady on my feet. Yesterday I needed to change the oil, clean/lube/adjust the chain, and give her a bath. I was scared as you-know-what to roll her up on the lift table, let alone pull her up on the centerstand on the table. In the past, I would put my left foot on the edge of the table, then very quickly put my right foot on the stand and lift her up. I was far from comfortable doing it that way yesterday. SO, I figured out that I could keep my left foot planted firmly on the garage floor, put my right foot on the centerstand and instead of lifting using the hand rail, I lifted it using the foot peg bracket. I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was!! For the first time in quite a while, I enjoyed my time with the 1100. I was able to accomplish everything I wanted to do....except go for a ride. At least now I feel like I made a useful contribution to this great forum. RE: Learned something new about the CB yesterday - Cormanus - 05-14-2018 That’s useful information, Inline4. Thanks. Your condition sounds most unpleasant. RE: Learned something new about the CB yesterday - SportsterDoc - 05-14-2018 Sorry for your challenges, but glad that you are adapting as best as you can. RE: Learned something new about the CB yesterday - PowerDubs_imp - 05-14-2018 Whatever it takes to get the job done! RE: Learned something new about the CB yesterday - the Ferret - 05-14-2018 Again sorry to hear of your health issues, and forced retirement from riding. Know that, for a time, you were one of the lucky few to enjoy a true renaissance motorcycle. The last and arguably the best of it's kind, by the manufacturer who changed the motorcycling world. I think that's something you can be proud of and remember fondly. RE: Learned something new about the CB yesterday - Nortoon_imp - 05-14-2018 I weigh 220 pounds, lost a few this winter. I found my 2017 EX to be heavier to lift on the center stand than any of the other 12 bikes I have owned. But I always like to place it on the center stand. What I have found is that when I stand on the stand lever, it does not roll the CB back right away. But if I keep my weight on it, it will slowly roll back with out being pulled of lifted. I weight 165lbs and I have no issue to put it on the center stand if I do it right. If I don't push vertically down or if the bike is not 100% upright, I will strugle. If I do it right, it goes up easily. RE: Learned something new about the CB yesterday - alprider - 05-14-2018 my scale for this is always the 1800 goldwing...smile (163lbs) RE: Learned something new about the CB yesterday - Nortoon_imp - 05-15-2018 (05-14-2018, 07:02 PM)alprider_imp Wrote: my scale for this is always the 1800 goldwing...smile (163lbs) My 1982 Aspencade (Goldwing) was easy, although it weighed about 750 pounds. Even with camping gear I could easily roll it back on the center stand. I think the low center of gravity, low fuel tank under the seat and flat four engine, made it possible. RE: Learned something new about the CB yesterday - Stichill - 05-15-2018 That's a nice tip, Inline4. Thanks for sharing and I wish you improved health in the future. It's a big beautiful world and there are lots of things to see and do besides riding. Best of luck to you! |
