Help an idiot figure out the search function. - FLYTYM_imp - 06-08-2018 Before I’ve asked a popular question I’ve tried using the search function but it always turns up no results, what am I doing wrong? It’s about as basic as it get but it’s just not working for me,thanks. RE: Help an idiot figure out the search function. - SportsterDoc - 06-08-2018 I've had that happen, also. I just keep making the search more generic. Helpful for me to go to bottom of the search window and select to show results in posts, rather than threads RE: Help an idiot figure out the search function. - Lord Popgun - 06-08-2018 What Doc said. Showing results in posts rather than threads will return a lot more results. RE: Help an idiot figure out the search function. - peterbaron - 06-08-2018 Just to make sure: there are no idiots in this Forum ...lol... just CB1100 lovers![]() Good luck ![]() pb RE: Help an idiot figure out the search function. - Bheezy27403_imp - 06-08-2018 Yeah, about that, I am clearly an idiot. RE: Help an idiot figure out the search function. - the Ferret - 06-08-2018 the search function will hunt for every word you type in it. For example if you search"best way to post photos" it will come up with every thread that uses the words "best" every post that contains "way" every post that contains "that" and every post that contains "photos" which would be a lot of posts. I would search just using the word "photo" and then read the the titles of the thread it comes up with to find the one I want. If you are looking for a specific product..just use it's name..Corbin, NC, National Cycle, Street Shield EX, Marlin, Dart..don't say " seat" or "best windshields" or "windshields" because it will come up with every thread with seat, best and every thread with windshields in any post RE: Help an idiot figure out the search function. - Ole - 06-08-2018 use google search "CB1100 Forum __________________" works great RE: Help an idiot figure out the search function. - tuareg - 06-08-2018 (06-08-2018, 11:03 PM)Ole_imp Wrote: use google +1 RE: Help an idiot figure out the search function. - FLYTYM_imp - 06-08-2018 (06-08-2018, 11:03 PM)Ole_imp Wrote: use google That’s how I’ve been doin it. RE: Help an idiot figure out the search function. - emptysea - 06-09-2018 the google option works, I guess...but the search function within this site works just fine, too. I tend to run the search on threads first and then re-run it on posts, but it depends upon what I'm looking for. If you're literally getting "no results" then you're probably being too specific. Also, folks 'round these parts don't get too riled up by someone asking a question that was already asked here. |
