Can you see me now? - Gone in 60 - 12-02-2020

Rode with my V47 trunk yesterday. Don't normally use the big one, but was planning on some shopping on the way home from work.

I've always found it comical that Givi insists on putting "tail lights" on their trunks that serve no function unless you buy their extra light kits. They don't even function as reflectors.

At some point a few years ago, I pulled the lenses off of this one and cut some Scotchlite reflective tape to fit inside the lenses, then put it back together. I never really paid attention to how effective it could be until last night. The UPS guy was making a late pickup, and his headlights were pointed at the back of my bike inside my shop. I guess it does work!

Not much on the back of the CB to light up so your trunk was a great idea

I put black reflective on the outside of my trunk on the FJR

I have black reflective around the back edge of the Givi base plate on the CB, need to do it to the Triumph. Can't get it to stick to my V40, the grain of the plastic is really rough.

I had some orange reflective vinyl left over from my recent helmet project, so I gave my V40 the same treatment last night. I might pick up a scrap of red reflective but just wanted to see how it would look through the slightly smoked clear lenses. This one is funny - there is no provision for a Givi add-on light kit on this one - it's just chrome foil under the fake lenses.

Looks great. How did you get the reflective to stick to the inside of the lenses?

The Givi insert is a piece of heavy paper with a chrome mylar coating. It isn't attached inside, it's just held in place by having the clear plastic lens push against it, and one screw that goes through it on one end. So, I just used that as a template for cutting the same shape from the reflective vinyl, left the paper backing on it, and put it in place of the factory chrome paper. Works great, but my OCD nature made me order a small square of red reflective, since it faces the back.
